This week in Room 304:

Reading: We continue the study of characteristics of different Genres including: Fantasy, Drama, and Literary Nonfiction/Biography.

Writing: Publishing Animal Nonfiction Brochure.

Grammar: Apostrophes and Possessives Continued

Social Studies: Economics conclusion with Business Project. Students will create a business, make a product, and sell the product. Afterwards, the students will look at supply, demand, budget, profit and loss.

Spelling: List 27

rule: The ( i ) sound in initial or medial position of a one-syllable base word = i-consonant-e (five)

The ( i ) sound at the end of a syllable in a word with two or more syllables + i (iris).

Homework: Math given by Mrs. Barrett. Spelling Monday, write words using the spelling rule. Tuesday, add words using the spelling rule. Read 100 Minutes per week.

Reading Across Genres Challenge: Students have begun reading books for the Reading Across Genres Challenge. It is optional but encouraged. Students will earn a brag tag for each genre book they read independently and write a quick response page. Reading will be done outside and during school. Books can be chosen from public, school, home, and class libraries. Be watching for brag tags coming home soon! Happy Reading!

Practice STAAR Test Results (2018 version taken on March 27 and 28)

Your child’s test results for Reading and Math will be sent home soon. The results do no affect your child’s grade. It was a practice. You may go to the following TEA website to download a version of the 2018 test. Answer Keys and an Item Rationale is also available.
